Assessment of viability for CP-IS integration into EuroKing

We have hit a roadblock with NHS Digital on this work and I would like to gather some opinion on how, if possible, this can be progressed.

Currently NHS Digital will only support CP-IS integration in a face to facenon-scheduled care setting - i.e. the woman arrives unexpectedly in labour or for antenatal care etc. NHS Digital expect this interaction to be managed and recorded using the maternity system, however as far as I am aware EuroKing is set up to handle the recording and processing of clinical information in a scheduled care setting and often this is not done face to face with the woman.

So what I need to know is:

1. Does anyone handle these types of face to face non-scheduled care interaction with a woman using EuroKing?

2. If not, how is this managed?

I'd very much appreciate some thought and perspective on this as at present it may not be possible to integrate EuroKing to CP-IS according to the guidelines laid out by NHS DIgital and I'd like to see if there's an avenue that can be pursed where we can integrate both systems together.

I might be missing the point.....

As I understand it from the Information Standard SCCI1609: Child Protection Information Sharing, the aim is that in the event of an unscheduled contact between the Maternity Unit and a woman, the system used to record the contact information must at point of contact automatically trigger a look up in the CP-IS system to see if there is a CPP/LAC in place.

Alistair - I think you are essentially saying the problem you have is that your clients currently either don’t use Euroking for unscheduled contacts or if we do there is no way to tell by the workflow we use to record it that this is an unscheduled contact. Could this be as simple as having a question in the workflows ‘ Is this an unscheduled contact? Yes/No’ where ‘yes’ triggers the lookup in CP-IS or introducing unscheduled contact workflows which would trigger the lookup when used?

I appreciate there are massive complexities around implementing this both technically and in significant changes to ways of working. There is a lot of support here for a prompt in the meantime, better than nothing but this wouldn’t meet the Information Standard requirements.

Has anyone managed to implement any CP-IS stuff yet - it's all gone very quiet?

Hi Alistair,  Feedback from EKHUFT is that  patients with gestation >24 weeks presenting to either Day Care or Labour Ward, then a prompt should appear to alert them to check.  Day Care, not if just routine, therefore for us it would be a full event and not a 'short' one.  We 'Euroking' all unscheduled contacts.

Angela/Delyse - I presume then you manage face to face non scheduled care interactions using a system other than EuroKing - i.e. you don't interact face to face with these out of area women whilst having the pregnancy record open in EuroKing? This is the key issue we have with NHS Digital. NHS Digital is expecting a system to be used at this point of non scheduled care interaction and at the moment EuroKing is configured more for the recording of scheduled care information. Or do you use EuroKing in a different way to record this encounter in real-time?

Hi again everyone - I'd really appreciate some more feedback on this please. NHS Digital are chasing me for a decision and at the moment it looks more like EuroKing won't comply with NHS Digital's strict guidelines of systems only being able to access CP-IS via an interface if the woman is being seen face to face in an unscheduled care setting and using EuroKing to perform that assessment in realtime. If possible could you comment on this CP-IS idea please so I can get a better understanding of how you all manage these scenarios. Many thanks.

We have similar situation's to Angela, and support her request for a prompt

We do have a lot of holidaymakers and out of county women who present with us at any stage throughout the pregnancy timeline, so we do a lot of face to face non scheduled care interactions.

We would at least like a prompt where a non booked woman presents to advise us to check the CP-IS system if Euroking cannot do this automatically.
