Bereavement Pathway

We would like to introduce a digital bereavement pathway that would better support /guide midwives when caring for mothers with fetal/neonatal losses.

I remember Pam Dobson starting work on this some time ago but not sure if it ever reached production.

Does anyone have anything in place or are interested in working on this with us

We have had recent issue highlighted.  A patient had a fetal loss/miscarriage at 20+ weeks. The Birth Notification was printed out (see attached) and sent via our GP Hub and was rejected as there wasn't any details in as it is classed as an un registerable birth.  Should this be called a 'Birth Notification' or a 'Delivery Notification' .

The definition of a BIRTH  -  'the emergence of a baby or other young from the body of it's mother, the start of a life as a physically separate being'

I would assume this Bereavement Pathway would have it's own documents that would be specifically scenario defined.

I've asked our Bereavement girls here Delyse if they would be interested, pretty sure the vast majority is still reliant on paper/emails/telephone contacts.
