I have contacted NHS digital re Criteria 6: Latest submission contained valid smoking at delivery for at least 80% of births
as this appeared to be a failure for All Euroking sites despite knowledge that we know this data is collected.

This is not a problem specific to Euroking, but a more general one about when patients are discharged following birth. Often patients delivered during the month are discharged the following month which means we don’t get the discharge info for many births until the next submission. E.g. mothers for many of your Sept births will not be discharged until Oct. This has the effect of suppressing the numerator in the calculation giving an artificially low rate for valid smoking status.
To remedy this, we’re looking at adding a ‘minus one month’ tweak to the code so for example October’s CNST criteria will look back at September’s births (thus allowing October’s discharges to included). Hopefully this will result in a much higher rate.
